  • Compostable plastics, supported by scientific research, are derived from renewable resources and break down into organic components through composting.   • Compostable plastic is typically made from renewable resources such as corn, sugarcane, potato, or other plant-based materials. These materials undergo a manufacturing process that transforms them into a plastic-like material that can be composted. Compostable plastics are designed to break down into natural elements, such as carbon dioxide, water, and biomass when exposed to the right conditions in a composting environment. This environmentally-friendly composition makes compostable plastics a sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics.

  • Polylactic Acid (PLA): PLA is derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. It is produced through the polymerization of lactic acid, which is obtained from fermentation of plant sugars.

    Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA): PHA is a family of biopolymers produced by various microorganisms through the fermentation of renewable feedstocks. It can be synthesized from different monomers, such as hydroxybutyrate (HB) or hydroxyvalerate (HV).

    Polybutylene Succinate (PBS): PBS is a polyester produced by the condensation polymerization of succinic acid and 1,4-butanediol. It is derived from renewable resources such as corn, sugar beets, or cassava.
